Stone Care & Maintenance

Click your stone to learn how to clean it, what products to use, what to avoid, and how often it needs sealing.

Stone comparison chart: hardness, maintenance, stain and heat resistance ratings for every stone type
Golden rule for all natural stone: pH-neutral cleaner + soft cloth for daily cleaning. When in doubt, mild dish soap and warm water never hurt.
Quartz (Engineered)

Clean with: Warm water + mild dish soap with a soft cloth or sponge. A non-abrasive household spray works for dried spills.

Avoid: Abrasive scouring pads and harsh chemicals (oven cleaner, paint stripper, nail polish remover). Never place hot pots directly on it — the resin can burn or discolor. Always use trivets.

Sealing: Never — it's non-porous and needs no sealer.

Quartzite

Clean with: pH-neutral stone cleaner, or mild dish soap + warm water with a microfiber cloth.

Avoid: Letting acids (vinegar, lemon, wine) sit on the surface; abrasive pads.

Sealing: Once a year.

Granite

Clean with: pH-neutral stone cleaner, or mild dish soap + warm water.

Avoid: Vinegar or lemon left standing, abrasive scouring pads, ammonia-based glass cleaners.

Sealing: Once a year.

Marble

Clean with: pH-neutral stone cleaner ONLY and a soft cloth. Wipe spills immediately — especially anything acidic.

Avoid: All acids (vinegar, lemon, wine, tomato sauce), abrasive pads, bleach.

Sealing: Once a year. Sealer slows stains but won't prevent etching — acids will still dull the polish.

Dolomite

Clean with: pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth; wipe spills fast.

Avoid: Acids (vinegar, lemon, wine), abrasive pads, bleach.

Sealing: Once a year.
